Baseball game, Fieldswap/orientation, NHS, Bonfire, Birthday & End of soccer season!

Many things have happened since my last post, so I will try to summarize everything to give you a little update of the past month.

A weekend in late April we (Ida, Dad & I) went to a Tides Baseball Game in Norfolk (30 min. drive from VA Beach) - My first game, and I loved it! I bought one of the well-known foam fingers, had pizza and all. We went there with a group of exchange students from another area (Blacksburg) in Virginia who were doing a "field swap".
The weekend after that, a couple of students from VA beach (including me) went to Blacksburg (5 hours away) for a "field swap" with the exchange students living there. Saturday morning we went to do some Youth Community Service in the woods. That included picking up trash, which turned out to be a lot of fun. Later that day we all went for a walk in the woods, where a huge waterfall happened to be at the end. We also had the last of three orientations, where they talked about preparations and stages of going home. Overall a great weekend, where I had the chance to meet more new, awesome people.

Last Wednesday I went to a National Honors Society event at my school. There was an initiation ceremony with candles followed by my german teacher handing over the German certificates. Afterwards there was cake and I had the opportunity to take some pictures with some of my friends, teachers and the principal.

Last weekend on the Saturday I went to a Bonfire in Suffolk with some of the other YFU students. It was a nice evening full of kickball, country-food and s'mores. (A grilled marshmallow with chocolate in between a cracker).
The Sunday we all went to Richmond to meet the rest of the family at Outback (steak restaurant) to celebrate my mom's birthday.
Besides all these weekend-events, I have played many soccer games with my varsity school team. Unfortunately more lost than won. We had our final practice yesterday. If I was to describe how I experienced the girls soccer team, I would mention how my expectations were too high. High school soccer and club soccer is two totally different things, I realized that.
