Aloha Hawaii & 17th Birthday!

The island O'ahu of Hawaii that we (My family & I) went to, was an incredible place! A place most people can only dream of. Although we only spent little less than a week there, I got to experience so many different aspects of the hawaiian culture and the island. It was amazing!

Tuesday night - left for D.C. and spent the night at Becca & Brooks' house.

Wednesday - ate brunch with the family to celebrate Grandma' Ann's birthday. Left D.C around 2 pm. for an 11-hour flight.

Thursday - Went to a pineapple plantation and later in the evening a "luau" (hawaiian party).

Friday - Hiked the old crater "Diamond Head" which turned out to be very steep! We met the YFU group who was also hiking at that same time, whereof 20 people were danish. Later at night fireworks on the beach.

Saturday -  Visited Pearl Harbor Memorial and afterwards North Shore, where some sea turtles turned out to be sunbathing. We also saw a whale, surfers and ridiculously huge waves.

Sunday - Beach day with the famous "shave ice" (basically slush-ice) and Hard Rock Café later at night.
Monday - Snorkeling in Hanauma Bay where we saw some big fishy's up close! One of them we suspected to be the famous Humuhumunukunukuapuaa :) Later that day we had dinner at Kristie's uncle and aunt's house.

Tuesday - Went to go kayaking at Kailua Beach, but it was closed so we ended up spending the day at the beautiful beach there.

Wednesday - Went on a 2-hour cruise to watch whales and left around 8 pm. for an 9-hour flight home.

Getting back to Virginia Beach was definitely a reality-check for me. I'm still living in Hawaiian time (6 hours behind), but school starts again tomorrow so I have to adapt soon.

Yesterday, the 6th of April, I celebrated my 17th birthday with my family and later at the movies with a friend. I got tons of presents and greetings and can't thank both of my families enough for everything they do for me. I simply love my life in the States :)
