New York City!

We went to New York City this whole last weekend and had a great time!

Saturday: We visited Times square, went to see a Broadway musical "Mamma Mia", went up in the top of Rockefeller Center with a view of the whole city, include Empire State Building. In the evening we went to dinner at a restaurant called "Bubba Gump" inspired by the movie "Forrest Gump."

Sunday: We started out with breakfast on street corner (Bagel and a "schmear" = cremecheese), sitting inside a train station because of the cold and extremely windy weather. Afterwards, we took a yellow cap to visit the 9/11 memorial or Ground zero which was very interesting. Later on we went to a chinese parade because of the chinese new year, where a surprisingly huge crowd was gathered... Chinatown afterwards, negotiating prices on everything, and Hard Rock Café for dinner.

Monday (President's Day): We went to a breakfast place called "Ellen's stardust," where all of the waiters sang and were hoping to get a chance on broadway one day. Thereafter we had found a  Scandinavian House that we went to explore. In the afternoon we did a scavenger hunt in Times Square and got some delicious cake in the new opened bakery "Cake Boss" on our tour. In the end we went to this famous place "Carnegie Deli," where the sandwiches we got, were loaded with tons of meat! Last but not least, we walked through a little bit of Central Park. We arrived in VA, Norfolk at 10.00 pm.

We did not go to see The Statue of Liberty which was closed because of Hurricane Sandy. Oh well, a good excuse to come back sometime ;)
All in all NYC was lots of yellow caps, tall buildings, bright lights, cold weather and great times!

This week they had try-outs at the school, where I tried out for the girls soccer team and ended up making the varsity team! Can't wait to start playing some soccer again, even though it's SO different over here!

Next weekend we are flying out to San Francisco, California for a wedding! We are going to spend a couple of days there, so I can't wait to also experience the west coast! :)
